Interested in a Floating Home, Boat House, Boat Well, Swim Float, Logs, Stringers, Dock?
My name is Derek Morrell - I have been in the floating home / boat house building business in the Portland OR, area for ~ 15 yrs. In addition, I have run my own sawmill business on the side for the last 10 yrs. I have built over 100 floating homes and boat houses in the Portland area and flipped numerous older floating homes as well as stringer/float repairs. Below you can find samples of some of my work from the last two years. I can custom build any floating home, boat house, swim float, dock to any stage desired (ex: frame up a house, you finish the inside, build a float...you build the house, or I can complete from the inside out). I also deal in floating home supplies, logs, and pressure treated wood, for those who like to do it themselves. I have done large high-end logs for 10 yrs, I previously helped out a friend and worked for a large lumber company. This company has since gone out of business due to economic times and I am back to doing high end lumber on my own. If you have any questions, or need an estimate, I can be reached at derekrmorrell@hotmail.com or by cell phone 360-609-7776.
Lumber Product: I am a certified lumber mill, West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau Mill # 22Lumber Product: I can produce graded beams up to 75 ft long and 24 inches square. In addition, I can produce no defect, dings or stain lumber that is free of heart with no flaws. And as a note to my quality of product, I am one of the only sawmills, that is still in business, that can saw large vertical grain lumber and was qualified to bid on the restoration lumber for the U.S.S. Constitution; The United States Oldest, In Commission, Navy Sailboat. I sell; pressure treated beams and free of heart as well as custom siding. I now have onsite Britewood Z-40 and PF-1 Sapstain Control and Fungicide Treatment. Our turn around time can be under 2 weeks if necessary. Contact for pricing. I only do high end lumber and run a very clean and organized operation. I take care of all my equipment and take pride in my work and love to challenge myself and my ultimate goal is to make you a perfect beam.
And for a pat on the back....to my husband...on June 13th, we had a California Government Grader come out... unannounced to check our grading and beams and he said, "these are some of the nicest beams I have seen in a long time". High end beams people!

WHY LIVE ON THE RIVER?
Living on the river is definitely a life style. It is a life of little to no yard work. No mowing lawns, painting fences or pulling weeds or tree trimming. It is a life of more enjoying and less working. River life is perfect for those that love; nature, the river, boating, water sports, fishing and outdoor living. Marinas create great communities that bring people together from all walks of life that enjoy and choose to spend their lives on the river. There is nothing like a good cup of coffee on your deck, the sun on your face and the gentle lapping of the river. The outdoor activities that we often think of as "vacation qualities", are available at the opening of your front or back door. Blow off some steam after a long days of work, with a ride on your boat/jet ski, throwing in a line, a canoe or paddle boat ride. A nice glass of wine, martini, tea on your back or front deck, a BBQ of your days fresh catch with neighbors, good conversation, the lulling river and a beautiful sunset is a perfect way to end any evening. It's easy to see why so many people have chosen to live their lives on the river and leave the work and maintenance of on land living, to enjoy a more relaxing lifestyle.......A floating home lifestyle.
